Minglewood Blog Feb 15th, 2008
Finally decided it was time for us to enter the blog world. We (Minglewood Band) just returned from a week of gigging in Ontario. I was aprehensive about the long drive but listening to a great audio book (The Tin Roof Blowdown by James Lee Burke.....great read) made the miles fly by. We left on Feb 5th for our first gig at Tuscon's in Ottawa. We were without a keyboard player so went 3 piece...rather enjoyed it. Went out and did 3 or 4 solo songs before bringing out Grant on bass & Moon on drums. Good night. The next day we were off to Toronto to perform at Healey's where we were joined by John Lee on keyboards and Thomas Wade on guitar. Great night musically and the crowd were into it. Off the next day to perform at the base in Borden.....hum hum gig.....small but mighty crowd. Up early the next day and headed for Brandford and the Jackhammer's club. It was a Sunday night, didn't expect much of a crowd and I was proven right.
Next moring we were up early and headed back to the Maritimes. We had 3 more audio books to choose from but couldn't find one worth listening to.
Arrived home on Tuesday, a little road weary and looking forward to putting my head down in my own bed. Looking forward to having a few weeks off before heading to Abu Dhabi and the Persian Gulf to entertain our troops about the ship 'The Charlottetown'........more to come on that later
Cheers
